Our Story

Blake’s story began in a family where healing and nourishment were woven into everyday life. His grandfather created one of the most widely recognized cold medicines still used today, and his father spent decades improving human health through supplements. Growing up seeing the people he loved pour their hearts into helping others feel better drove Blake to a life of nourishment.

While he experienced the power of food when it came to the nourishment and healing of humans, he also had to experience the heartbreak of losing pets to preventable health issues. For ten years, Blake was a professional chef, feeding people with intention and respect for ingredients. But he noticed a heartbreaking reality: the food available for dogs didn’t reflect the same care. Naturally, he found his way into the kitchen to provide this for his beloved golden retriever, Holly.

Blake created meals from whole ingredients, balanced them with the help of a pet nutritionist, and applied the same culinary standards to Holly’s bowl that he used in a professional kitchen. The difference was immediate. Soon, he realized how much others like him would love to have this for their dogs. Starting with his friends and family, then the Steamboat Springs community, and now all of the contiguous United States.

Homestyle Pet Food was started for Holly, but we continue it for all dogs—not just as a business, but as a promise we will put the care into your dogs’ food they deserve.
